Will Volkswagen & Suzuki share dealerships in India?
With VW buying Suzuki’s 19.9% share it can be speculated that both the companies could share their dealerships in India like Tata and Fiat.
Tata and Fiat got into a JV couple of years ago. With the JV, Tatas got the technology from the Fiat and in turn Fiat which lacked the sales and service in India got a channel to sell and service their cars in a better way. Fiat though makes world class cars, could not make a big intact in India from past 10 to 15 years due of lack of its after sales services. Now with the JV, Fiat has sold a substantial number of its newly launched cars Grande Punto and Linea.
This could set a great example for VW and Suzuki. Suzuki has a vast dealership network in India and VW is relatively new here. Setting up of good number of dealerships will consume both time and substantial cost. So it could be better for VW to share the dealerships with Suzuki. Suzuki can in turn get the diesel technology which it lacks in its portfolio. This could to be a win-win situation for both the companies if the JV is worked out well.
VW and Suzuki tie up story
German and Europe’s largest carmaker Volkswagen bought 19.9% stake in the Japanese third largest carmaker Suzuki couple of weeks ago by purchasing shares of Suzuki worth $ 2.5 billion. Suzuki had its strength in small cars and for Volkswagen to become the world’s largest carmaker its needs small cars in its portfolio.
On the other hand Suzuki will be benefited from VW’s diesel engines and sell its cars in Europe from which the company gets 57% of its revenue. Of $2.5 billion dollars, Suzuki will use half of the money to clear its debts and invest in development of next generation technology like electric, hybrid, low emission and low cost vehicles as well.

According to a very well placed source deep within the South Korean manufacturing giant Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, the sedan above is not the 2012 Hyundai Azera as reported yesterday. Not only is the car not an Azera, it’s not even a Hyundai. You are in fact looking at the 2011 Kia Optima. Though there is a 25% chance that this might be the 2012 Kia Optima. Sadly, and regardless, we know next to nothing about this new Optima, other than the fact that the rest of the world will still probably know it as the Magentis.
However, we know what we can hope for. Judging by the position of the front wheels (they’re almost at the door cut, totally FWD) we feel confident saying this here Optima will not be riding on any version of the RWD Hyundai Genesis platform. In other words, this is not the Kia K9. Still, we bet that Kia’s new styling guru (and OG Audi TT designer) Peter Schreyer will ensure this is the best looking Optima yet. Not a large hill to climb, but one that needs summiting for sure. We’ll give you more info when we get it.
Maruti Swift & Dzire gets 1.2L K series engine
With the strict emission norms coming into effect from 1st April 2010, Maruti Suzuki has replaced the old F series 1.3L petrol engine with the new 1.2L K series petrol engine in its popular hatchback Swift & its bigger brother Dzire sedan. This 1.2L K series engine is the same one which does the duty in Ritz, Estilo and newly launched Eeco MPV.
The K series in the Swift & Dzire produces a good 84bhp of power 11.5kgm of torque, coupled to an much improved gearbox. The old 1.3-liter powerplant produced 87bhp and 11.3kgm torque.
The K-Series engine is better refined and the company claims it has a fuel efficiency of 17.9kpl, a 2kpl improvement over the previous model. Maruti Suzuki will not hike the price of the new K series engine Swift.

Mercury Milan Hybrid 2010
Its new, its normal and it does most things well. How odd dont you think that a vehicle thats hybrid is just a normal vehicle that normal people can drive. Well this is one.
It is reported to be nice to drive, its quiet, has a nice lengthy range for touring, great for family as it has a roomy spacious feel and real space and it has a great economy with the latest hybrid technology. Sound Normal.
Buyer dont get excited its not followed by a huge Hollywood style launch with a fashion parade and a circus but just a good marketable hybrid vehicle that will do what you want a hybrid to do based on current developments in technology.
Looking forward to its release but dont expect every movie and rock star to own.

Toyota Corolla reportedly suffering from steering woes

Will it ever stop? Yo, we don’t know. And yes, we’re quoting Vanilla Ice because… well, at this point in the never ending Toyota tale of woe, why not? Anyhow, there have been 83 complaints about the power steering systems in 2009 and 2010 Toyota Corollas, most of which are claiming that the car will veer to the right or left at speeds over 40 mph. Coincidently, the Corolla is one of the eight Toyota models affected by the production and sales stoppage. The alleged problems have purportedly caused 10 accidents and six injuries. Here’s the gist:
Complainants have compared the movement to being buffeted by strong winds, sliding on black ice, or hydroplaning. They said that after trying to straighten the car, it can overcorrect — requiring the driver to use a tight, persistent, two-handed grip on the wheel to travel in a straight line.
Of course, you should always have a tight, persistent, two-handed grip on the wheel. That’s known as driving. Not that people aren’t actually experiencing problems with late model Corollas, but this kinda reminds us of the Seattle Windshield Pitting Epidemic.
If you don’t know, in the 1950s Seattleites began complaining en masse about pits (or holes) appearing in their windshields. Everything from hoodlums with BB guns to sand flea eggs to a million watt radio antenna to atomic testing were thought to be maybe causing the pitting. Also, shifts in the earth’s magnetic field and even gremlins (the fictional creatures, not the AMC product) were blamed.
Scoop: 2010 Mercedes Benz C250 spotted in India
The new 2010 Mercedes Benz C class 250 CGI was spotted at a Mercedes showroom recently. Though not much of a change compared to earlier C Class can be expected, it is evident from the camouflage that there is will be little change in the head and tail lamps, expect it to be little sleeker.
However the major change will under the hood. A 1.8 litre Turbocharged Direct Injection Petrol Engine with maximum power of 200bhp and 31.6kgm of maximum torque will find its place to run the car. The new C Class can do 0 to 100 Kmph in just 7.2 seconds.

North Carolina McDonalds will become the first to offer a Electric Hybrid car refilling station to US Alternative fuel Cars car owners and fast food consumers.
The North Carolina restaurant is taking this clever step to show the public just how green they could be. This is just a part of the overall plan, as a new building will be developed using green concepts and the latest tech ideas. The independent owner Mr. Ric Richards was reported in a recent article to say:
“Our customers will have a dedicated place to park and recharge their vehicles,” said Richards. “McDonald’s is enabling a better environment for future generations by supporting zero-emissions transportation infrastructure.” The new “green” McDonald’s in Cary was opened on July 14.
