Racing improves the breed. How many times have you heard some automaker PR flack spout that line in order to justify a motorsports program? When it comes to NASCAR, which is still the most popular form of racing in the United States, it’s clearly a complete fallacy. Open wheel racing, be it at Indianapolis or Monaco, largely falls into the same bucket. There is, however, one form of motorsports where there truly is a feedback loop: sports car racing like the kind on display in the American Le Mans Series.
One example is staring you in the face every time you look at the nose of a contemporary Corvette. When the C6 Corvette debuted, many fans complained about the styling, including the front air intake and the departure of the long running pop-up headlamps. The C6 brought a new larger central air intake and exposed, flush lighting. The design was influenced directly by the C5.R racing program and its need for better air-flow to the engine and brakes of the racecar. BMW 320d Corporate Edition and 300i launched in India
German luxury car maker BMW has launched two new models 320d Corporate Edition and 330i in India recently priced at Rs 23,95,000/- and Rs Rs 33,40,000/- respectively (Ex-Showroom Chennai).The 320d Corporate Edition is powered by a 1995cc 4 diesel cylinder eninge with power output of 130kW at 4000rpm and Max Torque of 350Nm at 1750-3000 rpm. The 330i sports a 2996cc 6-cylinder petrol engine which pumps out 190kW at 6600rpm and Torque of 300Nm at 2500-4000 rpm.

Luxury hybrids gone crazy
Well, I guess it’s green
Dang, has the selection of hybrid cars increased significantly in just the last few days. Porsche, Maserati, Ferrari have all confirmed plans to produce new hybrid vehicles.
Of course, those were just some of the top end hybrids, Audi, Mercedes, BMW and Infinity, for instance, also announced new hybrids during the course of the Geneva Motor Show.
But do any of these hybrids really mean anything in terms of advancing hybrid technology to the masses?
Sure, rich people can keep their rich toys and sleep soundly at night knowing that they have reduced their carbon footprint a bit. Unfortunately, however, even if you combine all these hybrids and their sale’s potential, they still don’t offer any scale for bringing hybrid vehicle costs down for the rest of us. Read more…

Spied: 2011 Hyundai Elantra (MD)
Today, we bring you more close-up spy shots of the upcoming redesigned Elantra sedan by Hyundai. Code-named ‘MD’, the new Elantra is yet another rendition of Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture design theme that is also conveyed in the new Sonata and Tucson. The 2011 Elantra sedan will feature a sportier overall appearance, with larger front grille, stretched head-lamps, steeper windshield rake and lower roof-line.
As for now, we have no confirmed details on 2011 Elantra’s engine options but you can expect to see Hyundai’s new 2.0L Theta four-cylinder engine placed under its hood. In addition, Hyundai will probably introduce a 1.6L four-cylinder engine in the entry-level, Elantra Blue model, which will achieve above average mileage thanks to the applied gasoline direct injection technology.
The sales date has not been confirmed for the 2011 Elantra. However, sources report that the launch date is tentatively scheduled for July of 2010. Our take? With Hyundai’s 24/7 in full force, we expect the Elantra to be launched much earlier, especially considering the fact that the new compact sedan is next in line for unveiling according to the brand’s plan. We will see for now.
