Men frightened of women’s driving (UK)
The men in the UK are left trembling in the front passenger seat when their partner drives, according to a new poll.
A study by market research firm OnePoll.com has exposed that 10% of men have been forced to grasp the steering wheel because their partner had lost concentration and drive towards the central reservation.
An OnePoll.com spokesman said: ‘Most men feel they are better drivers than the women in their lives. They believe they concentrate a lot better, read road situations more quickly and clearly, and have better reactions’.
‘One in five even went as far as to say they were never able to relax when their other half is driving.’

Plug-in 2010: Nissan says “we are very comfortable” with Leaf battery warranty level

Following his announcement of the Nissan Leaf’s 8-year, 100,000-mile warranty during the plenary session at the Plug-In 2010 Conference this morning, Nissan North America’s executive vice president Carlos Tavares spent some time with reporters answering our questions about just what this means for Nissan and Leaf buyers. We asked the first question that came to our mind when the warranty details (such as they are at this point) were revealed, namely, how much more might this cost Nissan than General Motor’s apparently identical warranty for the Chevrolet Volt. The two companies are most certainly fighting for some of the same customers and warranty is one way to take the lead. In fact, GM’s Volt Vehicle Line Director, Tony Posawatz, told Green Car Advisor last night, before Nissan made its announcement:
I just want to know who’s going to pay for the Leaf battery when it needs to be replaced. Is that in the price or not? I don’t know how long those batteries are going to last and you’ve got to factor that in.
But, even with the same marquee numbers, these two warranties are quite different, and from the outside, it looks like Nissan is taking a bigger risk here. After all, the Leaf has a 24 kWh battery pack compared to the Volt’s 16 kWh. Also, the Leaf uses more of its battery than the Volt will, and every mile in a Leaf will be battery-powered, which is not the case in a Volt. So, without question, the Leaf battery will work more. Is Tavares worried that offering the same warranty as the Volt will cause a problem for Nissan? Not in the least.

Report: Toyota to kill Sequoia, Tundra redesigned in 2014

At it’s peak in 2002, Toyota was selling over 70,000 Sequoias. Last year, that number dropped to below 20,000 units. So it comes as little surprise that ToMoCo will be nixing its Tundra-based SUV at the end of the current model’s lifecycle.
A source speaking with PickupTrucks.com confirmed that the Sequoia won’t live on, partially due to slow sales, but surely in part to get Toyota’s CAFE ratings in check before the new rules hit in 2015. But all’s not lost for the automaker’s body-on-frame offerings.
A redesigned Tundra is set to arrive in 2014, just in time for Ford, General Motors and Nissan’s newest half-ton pickups. Although sales of the Tundra haven’t lived up to Toyota’s lofty expectations, it’s obvious the automaker feels the need to compete in the segment, and a refreshed model should help sales, despite the market’s less-than-enthusiastic reception of Toyota’s largest pickup.
