So far, the Chrysler Group has clearly been the showstopper with the recent world debut of the all-new 2013 SRT Viper. But of course, Chrysler wants to make sure that we don’t forget the Viper’s connection to motorsports. By doing so, the SRT brand also unveiled the SRT Viper GTS-R, a racecar that has a long standing history of participating in the American LeMans Series.
Check out our post the 2013 Dodge Viper.
“Racing has been a significant part of the illustrious history of Viper not only with wins on the track, but also in the continued development of the street cars – and our new 2013 SRT Viper models are proof of those lessons learned,” said Ralph Gilles, SRT’s CEO and President. “Now with our new team and the launch of the GTS-R, we’re excited and proud to begin writing more chapters in the racing history of the Viper later this summer.”
The new Viper GTS-R was made in collaboration with Riley Technologies, which is based out of North Carolina. Though official performance details have yet to be released. Either way, the new Viper GTS-R is sure to make a statement in the up and coming American LeMans Series.

Today may be a very celebrated day, but unfortunately it took an unexpected turn as a very famous individual in automotive history recently passed away. Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, son of Porsche founder Ferdinand Porsche, and creator of the legendary 911, died earlier today at the age of 76.
“We mourn the death of our partner, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. As the creator of the Porsche 911,” said Porsche’s President and CEO, Matthias Muller. “he established a design culture in our company that has shaped our sports cars to this very day. His philosophy of good design is a legacy to us that we will honor for all time.”
After first joining the engineering office at Porsche KG in 1958, F.A. Porsche made his big debut by sculpting the first model successor to the 356, the Porsche Type 901, which later changed to the infamous 911 nomenclature. It was then that one of history’s most iconic sports cars was born.

Land Rover introduces DC100 Expedition concept and two special editions in New York.
The Land Rover DC100 Expedition concept has made its official debut today at the 2012 New York Auto Show, as part of the celebration for its 25th anniversary here in North America.
Land Rover chose to debut this concept as a way to “explore the possibility of brining the Defender back to the U.S. market.” It varies from the original DC100 concept largely by accessories, which consist of a roof rack, winch and a snorkel. Also, a Wade Aid system has been added, which measures the depth of any water the DC100 might be traveling in by sonar. Slight design differences like short overhands, an upright windscreen, vertical panels and strong shoulder panels were tweaked for the updated concept.
To help the model adapt to different driving conditions, Land Rover fitted the concept with Terrain Response, and a new system that creates a topography map of what lies ahead, displays it in 3D, and then offers alternative routes, called the Terrain-I system.
Egm is in favor of the return of the Defender, are you?

Land Rover has been remaining pretty quiet so far at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. But other than just showing off their current lineup, Land Rover subtly unveiled a limited edition of the 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged called, the uhm…Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition.
Available in only two unique colores—Fugi White and Santorini Black—the Range Rover Sport Supercharged Limited Edition also featured upgraded red brake calipers and various exterior appointments. On the inside, carbon fiber trim was added along with two tone leather and stitching, while the premium 825-watt Harmon Kardon 17-speaker audio system is made standard.
Only 500 copies will be produced and will don the usual 5.0L supercharged Jaguar V8 good for 510hp. Of course, when brands produce limited edition models such as these, it usually signifies the end of the current generation. So does this mean that the Range Rover Sport can see a replacement very soon? Only time will tell.
