Hyundai to Debut European Spec Veloster Turbo at the Geneva Auto Salon, gets 183hp

Following its planet premiere at the Detroit Motor Display in January, the new Hyundai Veloster Turbo is heading to Switzerland and the 82nd Geneva International Automobile Salon for its European debut.
Like the North American (N.A.) model, the European specification Veloster Turbo is equipped with the Hyundai Group’s new 1.6-liter T-GDI four-cylinder engine featuring a large-compression, twin-scroll turbocharger and immediate-injection technology.
However, whereas the N.A. version’s T-GDI delivers 201-horsepower and 264Nm (195 lb-ft) of peak torque, the European model’s engine has been slightly wringed down to 183-horses (186PS) although delivering a small a lot more torque at 270Nm (199.one lb-ft).
We are quite sure that like us, you happen to be also asking yourself why Hyundai chose to minimize the turbocharged engine’s output. Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Uk, explains:
“UK drivers tend to desire far more torque from a lower engine speed, so our European engineers have specified a set-up that nonetheless provides a considerable increase in energy – up from 140ps to 186ps – while also delivering the wanted very low-finish torque. The resulting package is quite competitive in opposition to the functionality of rivals such as VW Scirocco and Vauxhall Astra.”

Audi Reveals Plans for Wireless Charging, New Lightweight Components, Predictive Suspension, and More

When Audi recently unveiled its R18 ultra and R18 e-tron Quattro LMP1 prototypes, it also used the event to present a range of forward-seeking technologies. (This is in addition to yet another modern presentation involving OLED lighting and sophisticated collision avoidance.) The most recent crop of gadgetry incorporates wireless car-battery charging, predictive suspension techniques, superior light-weight materials, and far more. Study on for all the details:

Wireless Charging: The adoption rates for electrical automobiles are nonetheless as very low as their assortment is limited, but Audi is generating a severe work to ease one of the most annoying facets of EV use: the continuous require to recharge. Together with Boston-primarily based WiTricity right here in the U.S., the brand is operating on wireless inductive charging. (WiTricity announced a comparable partnership with Toyota last year.) The major coil is positioned on leading of or underneath the parking surface the secondary coil is put in on the underbody of the automobile. A driver then parks the automobile immediately above the primary coil, and vehicle battery packs can thus be recharged wherever the (high priced) infrastructure is installed: at operate, whilst buying, and, of course, at property. The technological innovation was showcased in Audi’s Urban Concept, which was unveiled at Frankfurt last year, and we hear the odds are improving in favor of a limited-production run of the radical two-seater. That’s great news, whether they are charged wirelessly or not.

Garage Parking Pilot: Making use of this tech, a driver will stop their vehicle in front of a correctly outfitted construction, get out, and then tell the auto through smartphone to park. Right after that, everything is handled by the automobile itself: Utilizing its electrically boosted steering and by-wire throttle, it moseys into an assigned parking spot. Considering that the driver currently has exited the car, the cars can be parked extremely near with each other, enabling a lot more automobiles to fit in a parking structure. This could be a quite massive deal in a lot of ultra-crowded European and Asian cities. We’ve noticed the program in operation, and it works.
