Report: Drivers are against social media connectivity in automobiles

OnStar Multimedia Connectivity Report: Drivers are against social media connectivity in automobiles

The advent of cheap, lightweight computing it would seem is finally reaching a zenith of absurdity, or at least that is what technology consulting firm Gartner would seem to have concluded following research on the subject. Chevy now offers the capacity for consumers to check out their Facebook accounts via OnStar and has even released a commercial touting the function.

Gartner’s studies show though that as a substitute of social media integration, the only issues motorists are truly interested in is motoring-related data methods. At the 2012 Telematics Detroit conference, Gartner analysts suggested that consumer “wants” as they place it, lie in voice recognition, navigation and automated crash notification techniques.

Some buyers are willing to spend far more for music connected luxuries such as Pandora or satellite radio, but the reaction on the portion of shoppers from Gartner’s study in infotainment and social networking appears to be technology for technology’s sake.

Ferrari Enzo Replacement Design Finalized

The powers that be at Ferrari have finalized designs for the successor to the Enzo, which will make its debut by the end of the year. Despite the fact that there have been a range of mules—we’ve managed to get our hands on spy pictures of one Enzo-successor mule—undergoing testing for some time now, the super-dupercar’s last style was nonetheless in query.

As to the design made the decision on, we realize that traditional Ferrari collaborator Pininfarina had absolutely nothing to do with it. The outcome comes totally from within the confines of Ferrari’s home in Maranello, led by renowned designer Flavio Manzoni. Could this be the beginning of the end of a prolonged romantic relationship with Pininfarina? We hope not, but we really don’t run Maranello.

Feel of the Millechili concept from 2010 and collector Jim Glickenhaus’s Enzo–based P4/5 and  P4/5 Competizione and you get an idea of what to assume from the F70’s (what it’s getting referred to internally) lines and form. The new design of the all-carbon-fiber body and chassis mega-exotic is based mostly on what is being referred to as a “three arc” philosophy. That is, as witnessed in profile, the front arc is the tightest in diameter the middle arc, with its greenhouse, is the greatest and the rear arc is somewhat larger than that in the front and extends rearward until it ends abruptly—a bit like the Pagani Zonda tail, if you will. This will place its two occupants within a forward-mounted, large glass cabin resting on carbon-fiber pillars, providing a practically 360-degree view. We do know for certain that, like the Zonda, that abrupt rear fascia will be left open, or possibly covered by just a display.

Guide to the F1 Canadian Grand Prix and BMW’s first ever podium in 2007

Article written by Christo Tinkov at OneHotLap, a website that focuses on all performance driving: Track, Autocross, Karting, Rally, Racing, Tech Advice, Product Reviews, and Track Reviews.

I was looking for some info on the upcoming 2012 F1 Canadian Grand Prix and remembered this article I’d written 5 years ago. It put a smile on my face thinking about the fantastic weekend we’d had at the race. I think the experience would still be very much the same today, even though many of the drivers are different.

The 2007 F1 Canadian Grand Prix

I was lucky to have bought tickets to the Canadian Grand Prix a few months ahead of the race. The event was completely sold out and ticket scalpers were charging more than double the original price for general admission. The major reason? Sensational English rookie Lewis Hamilton had gathered enormous media attention with his pole position and was widely expected to win his first F1 race.

Logistics
Getting to and from the track was very easy considering the size of the event. The Montreal metro is fast, clean, and safe. Ironically, my son Jason liked the subway so much that he thought it would be cool to have lunch at the Subway restaurant located at one of the main stations. It might have had something to do with the checkered flags all around the restaurant but then again, these could be seen all around the city. We drove 5 hours from Boston to the culinary capital of Canada to go eat at Subway?

Last year, the Nissan Altima was the 2nd-greatest marketing auto in the United States.

That stat is remarkable on its very own, but it’s even a lot more extraordinary when you recognize that the the Altima’s four-year old style and design was up against newer entries from the likes of Toyota, Volkswagen and Hyundai.

The Altima will soon face a redesigned Ford Fusion, Chevy Malibu and Honda Accord, also, which tends to make finding the all-new 2013 Nissan Altima sedan appropriate the 1st time that considerably a lot more crucial for Nissan.

Based mostly on our restricted time behind the wheel of each the three.five-liter V-6 and the two.5-liter 4-cylinder Altima variants, we’d say Nissan has hit the nail firmly on the head. In truth, really don’t be stunned when we begin slinging phrases like “class leading” close to in regards to the new Altima.

If genius is in the specifics, the 2013 Altima comes across as fairly damn wise. Search at the gasket-equipped join in between the hood and fenders, for illustration, or the two below-physique panels to deflect air.
