2013 Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe Spy Photos: Now With Fewer Center-Stack Buttons!

What It Is: Cling-wrapped examples of Honda’s next-generation Accord in both sedan and coupe form. We’d previously spotted a parka-clad Accord sedan, but this is our first glimpse of the cars’ production shapes. The front and rear fascias appear quite toned down from those of the recent Accord Coupe concept, which presaged the new generation, although Honda may not have yet fully tipped its hand with those pieces.

Why It Matters: The Accord has become stale, and Honda needs to prove it hasn’t lost its mojo as a company. The car is still a perennial 10Best winner, but it’s not as dominant a force as it once was. (In fact, only the brilliant four-cylinder manual Accords made our 2012 list.) And with the mid-size segment perhaps more competitive than it has ever been, Honda needs a hit to keep pace with the sales volume of the Toyota Camry and the hype of the new Ford Fusion.

Platform: Keeping with Honda’s recent practice of evolutionary generational changes (Civic, CR-V, etc.), the size and shape of both sedan and coupe are largely the same as before. Thus, expect most of the underpinnings to be closely related to those currently roaming practically every street in America. The most noticeable alterations will be in the details, including the body-side particulars, lighting elements, and fascias. The latter appear here to house a larger lower grille and may end up sporting trapezoidal fog lights and exhaust finishers as seen on the concept car. The coupe’s porthole camo is definitely out for production—we’re a little bummed about that one.

Ferrari auction raises 1.8 million euros

Among the items sold, featured a very special Ferrari 599XX that went to an American customer for a whopping 1.4 million euros. It is a unique piece signed by Luca di Montezemolo himself, as well a F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. As a matter of fact, the car will be delivered to the new owner by the two Scuderia drivers during the Grand Prix of Italy.

Another item, an F2008 engine went to a Briton who paid 80,000 euros ($ 103,500) for it. The proceeds going to the Italian families also include online donations. One Russian customer generously gave out 100,000 euros.

Report: New Porsche Cayman slated for 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show debut

2012 Porsche Cayman Report: New Porsche Cayman slated for 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show debut

So the new 2013 Porsche Boxster came out earlier this year, though at its debut, the Zuffenhausen brand remained fairly quiet about the Boxster’s sibling, the Cayman. That said, ever since the Boxster’s debut, the Cayman’s details were more or less left to be determined…until now.

Reports from Automotive News have found that Porsche is apparently preparing to unveil its latest Cayman at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

As for what we can expect, well, the Cayman should follow in the Boxster’s path where a reduction in weight was one of the biggest changes. Additionally, the Cayman, much like the Boxster, will also focus on becoming more fuel efficient without sacrificing the Porsche Cayman’s gung-ho abilities.

Engines, in usual fashion, should carry over from the Boxster, which means two boxer-six engines producing either 265hp or 315hp.

For the serious driver of any rear wheel-drive sports car, a limited slip differential (LSD) is a must, and the Scion FR-S coupe (as well as its Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 siblings) doesn’t disappoint offering a Torsen LSD as standard.

If you would like to know how a limited slip differential works and what it means in terms of handling and performance, Scion has prepared a short video explaining it in layman’s terms.

As a bonus, we have also added a brilliant video from Chevrolet that dates from the 1930s and which describes how a differential gear works.

Enjoy both clips right after the break.

The 2013 Bentley Continental GT Speed has been confirmed to make its debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed taking place from the 28 June to 1 July in the UK.

While the Continental GT Speed may not look any different from a standard Continental GT, it is the changes made under the hood that set it a part from any other.

The new production model is the fastest Bentley has ever produced, taking 4.2 seconds to meet 0 – 100km/h, reaching a top speed of 329km/h. Bentley has also modified the chassis, steering setups and suspension as well as lowered the vehicles overall ride height.

The official press release states that:

“At the heart of the new Continental GT Speed is an uprated version of the unique Bentley 6-litre, 48-valve, four-cam, twin turbocharged W12 engine. For the new model, the legendary Bentley W12 develops 625 PS (616 bhp/460 kW) at 6000 rev/min and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque to deliver thunderous, supercar performance with effortless overtaking capability.”

Cholmondeley Pageant of Power 2012 Cholmondeley Pageant of Power 2012

If you live in the North of the United Kingdom and you’re unable to make the annual trip down to the South for the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the alternative has to be the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power. Now in its fifth year, the Pageant follows the same basic setup of the Goodwood event, there is a hill climb and static displays, but on a smaller scale. This year, we were fortunate to get a set of photos from the lens of Adam Kennedy!

As you would expect, the lineup was nothing short of epic. Among the highlights included the 2003 LeMans-winning Bentley Speed 8, the Lexus LFA, a Martini liveried Jaguar XJ220, a Jaguar XJR15 and a Nismo Nissan GT-R GT3. The pictures also reveal the Lancia Integrale and Audi Quattro rally cars and the magnificent 42 litre, 1500hp, Packard Bentley!

It looks like a fantastic event. For more pictures, please visit Adam’s Flickr page!
