2011 BMW X5M with 22-inch Modulare Wheels

X5M Modulare Wheels 1 2011 BMW X5M with 22 inch Modulare Wheels

For those who want to spice things up a bit with their BMW X5, this might might give them some ideas. Modular Wheels just released pictures of a 22-inch setup on an X5M, and it looks gorgeous. The X5M itself is not that much of a looker, but with these 22-inch Modulare B18 forged monoblock wheels in gloss anthracite finish, and the white body color, it is something else.

The wheels on this car measure at 22×10 front and 22×12 rear, and are wrapped in Pirelli 295/30/22 and 335/25/22 Scorpion Zero tires. With a 555-hp bi-turbo V8 engine the X5M should have no problem delivering its performance through this set. They have also fitted the car with Eibach spring kit for a bit of lowering. Don’t worry about the offroad capability. The X5M didn’t have any in the first place.

Enjoy the pictures…

Cadillac Escalade EXT cloned by Chinese car maker

The unveiling of the Shanxi Victory S102 in China may have been a low-key affair, but it is one unlikely to be overlooked by General Motors’ lawyers.

The all-new ute (pictured top) bears more than an uncanny resemblance to the Cadillac Escalade EXT pick-up (pictured below), and is the latest example of a Chinese manufacturer knocking-off a famous global design for its domestic market.

The Shanxi Victory S102 comes around six months after fellow Chinese car maker Jianghuai Auto Corporation revealed its Ford F-150 clone, the JAC 4R3. Ford’s legal team may have a few tips for their Detroit counterparts, as the blue oval brand blocked production of the 4R3 in May after successfully arguing that the Chinese version was an illegal copy of its design.

Although the S102 is not yet on sale, Shanxi Victory’s website lists two four-cylinder petrol engine options – one with 68kW and 193Nm, the other with 76kW and 215Nm – and lists a five-speed manual transmission as standard equipment along with alloy wheels, leather seats, electric windows and reverse parking sensors.

How ‘Siri Eyes Free’ Will Team With Your Car’s Voice Tech

Apple Eyes Free How ‘Siri Eyes Free’ Will Team With Your Car’s Voice Tech

This much we know: Apple’s Eyes Free feature will be implemented into the vehicles of nine different automakers, allowing drivers to access the Siri “voice assistant” on a connected iPhone by pressing a button on the steering wheel. Apple revealed the news at its Worldwide Developers Conference in early June, which caught some representatives at the nine automakers somewhat off guard.

After speaking with a few car-company contacts and surveying at least one you-can’t-have-it here European Siri application – along with examining an Apple patent for a steering wheel remote – we speculated on how Eyes Free might integrate into new and existing cars.

But one lingering question is how Siri Eyes Free will ride shotgun with the existing onboard voice-recognition technology included on many cars.

Road Test: 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Road Test 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Road Test: 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Our next words and text lines cover the fastest road-legal Porsche ever to leave the factory in Zuffenhausen! The signature Silver-Grey 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS in this story was available to us for one single day near Wuppertal, in the western part of Germany. We stepped behind the wheel with a decent amount of respect for the rear-wheel drive turbocharged powerhouse which is based on the previous facelifted 997 model series. Our testing grounds were local country roads and the famous German autobahn.

Compared to the ‘normal’ GT2, the RS serves up a rather unexpected and extreme power boost, adding 90hp for a total of 620, available at 6,500rpm and sheds around 70kg of weight. It allows the RS to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds, 0 to 200km/h in just 9.8 seconds, and 0 to 300km/h in 28.9 seconds. The top speed is an astonishing 330km/h, two more than the 997 GT2.

The 911 GT2 RS differentiates itself from its sibling not only on performance, but also on looks and the generous use of carbon fiber parts fitted throughout the car, on the inside as well as the outside. The most noticeable differences are the front hood carrying a plastic sticker Porsche logo, the fenders, the side mirrors, the rear air intakes and the lip spoilers at the front and rear, all made of carbon fiber.
