Audi & Ducati at 2012 Pikes Peak – Extended Trailer

Audi and Ducati Pikes Peak Come Together Audi & Ducati at 2012 Pikes Peak – Extended Trailer

Following a short teaser video released yesterday, Audi is now showing us the full trailer of what they call ‘Pikes Peak Come Together.’ At this year’s international hill climb event the German brand will celebrate its partnership with the Italian bike maker Ducati, by racing an Audi RS5 and a Ducati Multistrada up the famous mountain.

It’s going to great watching these two tackling the fearsome hills, especially the RS5, which is a conventional V8 coupe. And we can only hope Audi’s relationship with Ducati last longer than AMG’s. After all, they’ve spent a large lump of money on it.

Throughout their storied histories, Audi and Ducati forged legends racing up Pikes Peak. With the 90th annual running of the treacherous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb at hand, the two iconic brands chose to come together and pit today’s expressions of performance against the mountain that has crowned each with championship glory.

Lexus GS F Sport gets a little more style by Wald International

waldinternationallexusgs 09 627x377 Lexus GS F Sport gets a little more style by Wald International

Lexus’s GS F Sport model has a new kit out from Wald International that leaves out the power mods and focuses on the exterior.

A body kit has been assembled that fits a set of revised side skirts, a front lip spoiler and a rear bumper insert to the model. In addition, Wald offers the option of 19- or 20-inchs wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza rubber, and carbon fiber reinforced plastic spoilers.

As previously mentions, there are no performance mods for this kit so power still comes from the stock version’s 3.5-liter V6 that makes 306-hp and 277 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This makes for a 0-62 mph time of 5.7 seconds.

Nice and subtle, but it would’ve been good to see just a touch more, maybe some interior upgrades?

Suzuki S-Cross crossover concept revealed

A sketch and teaser image of a crossover concept called the Suzuki S-Cross has been released by the Japanese brand ahead of the vehicle’s debut at September’s 2012 Paris motor show.

Suzuki is saying very little about the concept at this stage, though its description of the S-Cross as a “concept car heralding a C-segment crossover model” suggests it could preview the company’s next-generation SX4.

The sketch points to a more conventional-looking hatchback than the relatively tall-bodies current SX4, though concept drawings rarely translate literally to the final production model.

The dark teaser image shows little except for a fancy multi-LED headlamp above a strip of LED daytime running lights.

The Suzuki S-Cross will be the car maker’s second concept car of the year, following the XA-Alpha shown at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo in January that showed a potential future SUV from the car maker.

A Spanish group has taken a significant step in its effort to win the $ 30 million Google Lunar X PRIZE after signing a contract with a Chinese company to launch its lunar robot to the moon in 2014. The deal puts the Barcelona Moon Team toward the top of the Lunar X PRIZE competitors, according to team leader Xavier Claramunt.

“Through this launch service contract, Barcelona Moon Team consolidates itself at the head of the teams participating in the competition,” says Claramunt, “since securing the launcher is half the importance of the mission.”

Claramunt’s team will use the Long March 2C launcher with an upper stage CTS2 rocket to make the final push to orbit around the moon. The launch system is provided by the China Great Wall Industry Corporation, a state owned company that has long been involved with China’s space program. The Long March 2C launcher first flew in 1975 with 35 successful flights and only one failure.

The Barcelona Moon Team is a consortium of companies, led by Galactic Suite Moonrace. Several other companies are involved including aerospace heavyweights EADS CASA and Thales Alenia. The group hopes to be the first of the 25 competitors in the Lunar X PRIZE to successfully launch a privately funded spacecraft that will land on the moon, complete a series of exploration tasks, and send the information back to Earth.

Slovenian exhaust specialist has released their exhaust video following the official release of the BMW F10M M5 Evolution exhaust in February.

The system comes in three parts, the system itself machined from titanium, the titanium tail piece and the slip-on carbon fiber cover that finishes it off.

The Evolution system lowers the back pressure and gives the M5 more power and torque through the whole range of rpms. It increases responsiveness. The Evolution system offers an even greater difference in weight, improving the power-to-weight ratio. Gains are achieved without removing the catalytic converters.

More Bad Karma for Fisker as Another Model Goes up in Flames

Untitled 1 More Bad Karma for Fisker as Another Model Goes up in Flames
Fisker just can’t seem to get a break. Only months after the Karma was said to have been the source of a fire that broke out in a garage of a Texas house, another example of the hybrid-electric luxury sedan went up in flames while parked outside a grocery store in Woodside, California.

The details surrounding the incident are extremely thin and we still do not know the cause of the fire.

Jalopnik reported that according to an eyewitness, the owner of the Karma went inside the grocery store and came out shortly after to discover smoke seeping out of the vehicle. The driver then called Fisker who told him to call 911.

The firefighters were able to put out the fire but not before the Karma sustained significant damages. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.

When asked by Jalopnik, Fisker emailed this statement:
