Study: What are the best-selling cars in the wealthiest zip codes?

It’s common to think that those that live in some of the wealthiest zip codes in America, probably drive the most expensive cars in the world. Well you would be surprised.
According to a study by TrueCar.com, half of the vehicles in wealthy zip codes are non-luxury brands and only two vehicles on the list are over $ 50,000.
“Among the top 10 most popular vehicles in America’s wealthiest neighborhoods, half are non-luxury vehicles,” TrueCar said in a statement. “And in a demographic where a car budget doesn’t seem to be much of a concern, all vehicles are priced less than $ 50,000 – with the exception of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW X5.”
“Luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus are the top choice for the well-off, but with wealth often comes freedom of choice. The data demonstrates, that wealthy consumers of today make value a top priority as half the vehicles purchased are from mainstream brands including Honda, Toyota, and Volkswagen that offer the best in vehicle amenities and comfort that near those of some luxury models,” said Kristen Andersson, Senior Analyst at TrueCar.com.

New Fiat 500XL with Seven Seats and 500L Trekking Minivans Revealed in Official Patent Drawings

We already knew that Fiat had plans to expand its 500L small minivan range but now we can give you a taste of what the Italian company is preparing for the very near future with these official patent fillings.
We found three different sets of sketches and renderings, the first of which, is the regular Fiat 500L with five seats that has already been unveiled and is set to reach European dealerships in late September and October (depending on the country) and in North America during the course of 2013.
The next model is easily identified as the seven-seater version of the small minivan, with some sources claiming that it will be named 500XL.
In order to create enough space for the addition of a third row of seats, most likely meant for children, this model is said to be around 150mm longer than the five-seat 500L. These renderings suggest that the 500XL has the same wheelbase as the 500L with the extra length going in the rear overhang.
According to recent reports, the 500XL will likely enter production towards the end of 2013 and will be available in Europe and other markers around the world but not in North America as Fiat believes consumers won’t buy such a small seven-seater model.

BMW Apps Adds Stitcher SmartRadio, But Only for iOS Users
Photo: BMW
While BMW has outpaced its German rivals in getting apps into the dash, the brand is behind Detroit in the app space, particularly in spreading the love beyond Apple. Case in point: Owners of BMW models equipped with the BMW Apps options (and also Mini vehicles with Mini Connected) can now add Stitcher SmartRadio to the system’s handful of existing apps. This is more than a year and a half after Ford made Stitcher available for its Sync AppLink system and more than six months after GM added the app to certain Buick, GMC and Chevy infotainment systems.
As with those domestic brands, BMW’s Stitcher SmartRadio app allows drivers access to thousands of talk radio programs, live broadcasts and podcasts from around the world, including content from NPR, BBC, NBC and the Wall Street Journal. The app also includes Stitcher’s new Smart Station feature that recommends programs based on user’s personal preferences – similar to Pandora – and it’s operated via a BMW vehicle’s iDrive controller. “BMW Apps adopts the familiar BMW display and controls to ensure that all functions can be operated comfortably, simply, safely and intuitively while minimizing driver distraction,” BMW told Wired in an e-mail.
The free Stitcher app can be used in any BMW equipped with the $ 250 BMW Apps option (or again, with Mini Connected). But if you own a compatible BMW and don’t own an iPhone or iPad you can’t get access to Stitcher using BMW Apps – or any other ConnectedDrive-specific apps, including Facebook and Twitter integration. BMW recently announced that it will add Android compatibility for most of its ConnectedDrive features, although not until the middle of next year. Of course, there’s always Bluetooth streaming, although you lose the ability to use the car’s controls and instead have to fumble with the phone.
In the meantime, BMW is throwing a bone to its Android-toting drivers by giving them access to one ConnectedDrive feature. The free My BMW Remote app that allows controlling aspects of the car from afar can now be download from Google Play and used with compatible vehicles that have an active subscription to the BMW Assist telematics system. Features include the ability to remotely lock and unlock the doors, activate the horn and parking lights to help find a vehicle in a parking lot and adjust the climate controls and use a timer function to preheat or precool the car. The app will also show a car’s location on a map and guided the owner to it as long as it’s no more than a mile away, and can send points of interest found using a Google Local Search to the vehicle’s navigation system.
AUDI AG: Continuing Growth In Europe Too

AUDI AG carried over the double-digit growth of the first half of 2012 into July, when the Company delivered some 119,600 automobiles worldwide, an increase of 12.9 percent. This strongest-ever July performance was boosted by a healthy 28 percent increase in unit sales in the United States. In Germany, too, demand for models from the Ingolstadt carmaker were yet again clearly up by 10.7 percent. Overall, Audi handed over some 852,900 cars to customers in the first seven months of the year, 12.4 percent more than in the same period of 2011.
“Following this successful start to the second half, we are expecting the new A3 to give us an extra lift over the coming months,” said Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG. “Because we aim to continue pioneering the premium compact class with the new generation, too.” The new Audi A3 will appear on the first markets from the end of August.
Despite the continuing difficult economic environment in some markets, July saw AUDI AG secure further growth in Europe. With around 60,800 cars sold, the Company improved on the prior-year month by 5.5 percent. The Ingolstadt carmaker achieved especially strong growth in Eastern Europe – unit sales there climbed by 31.4 percent to a deliveries total of around 4,800 last month. The main driver of growth in that region was Russia, where 2,757 Audi models were sold (up 35.6 percent). The brand with the four rings also maintained its dynamic performance in its home market of Germany.
Sales there rose 10.7 percent to 23,712 automobiles. Cumulatively, the unit total for Germany over the first seven months is up 7.8 percent (157,885 units). This growth was fueled in particular by the A1 Sportback, the A6 Avant and the Q3. From January through July, Audi delivered some 14,500 units of its new compact SUV to customers in Germany.
New models also boosted sales in the United States, where July’s unit total of 11,707 was up 28 percent on the prior-year month. The new generations of the A4 and A5 families, which went on sale at U.S. dealers in June, were particularly in demand. Sales of the A4 models were up 51.7 percent, while the A5 models gained 31.9 percent. July also saw the first units of the RS 5 high-performance model delivered to customers in the United States.

For Sale: Lamborghini Murcielago Replica
For Sale, Lamborghini — By Chris on August 12, 2012 at 5:56 pm — No Comments

Some replicas inspired by supercars are painstakingly wrong, hence their appearance in our overkill category. But this Lamborghini Murcielago replica which has popped up on eBay is definitely a better example of craftsmanship.
Although the car resembles the original quite well, its performance doesn’t. The Murcielago replica is powered a 3-liter V6 engine derived from a Toyota Camry which puts out 320 horsepower. This enables the car to accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in 5 seconds, but the top speed hasn’t been revealed.
According to the advertisement this car has been built last year, has literally done 1000 miles from which only 400 miles with the new engine, which comes with a one-year warranty. The faux Lamborghini Murcielago is being offered for an unknown price. For more information and pictures, or to contact the seller, click here.
