Including an $ 810 destination charge, the sticker price will actually be $ 50,610. Tax incentives of $ 2,500 in California, and $ 7,500 federally will be available.

Toyota has been issuing videos to get the word out for its California-market RAV4 EV, designed in collaboration with Tesla using its electric motor drive technology.

As revealed in Los Angeles in May, the just over $ 50,000 vehicle is said to offer range of approximately 100 miles, charging time of approximately six hours using a 240-volt/40-amp fast home charger, and is much sleeker than the early electric RAV4.

Name That Shifter, No. 89: 1984 Renault Fuego 2.2

Shifter No. 892 Name That Shifter, No. 89: 1984 Renault Fuego 2.2On Monday we presented this week’s shifter and asked you to identify the make and model of the vehicle from whence it came. We were counting on this week’s contest to stump you, but it turns out we didn’t dig quite deep enough. A few of you figured out that this week’s shifter came from the 1984 Renault Fuego 2.2. The first commenter to mostly correctly identify it was repeat winner Ram Narayan—Ram was slightly off with his guess that the shifter belonged to the Turbo model.

The Fuego pictured here is from our June 1984 issue. Introduced in the U.S. in 1981, the funny-looking Renault (which was peddled Stateside by AMC, along with the dreadful Alliance) received a new, more-powerful base four-cylinder engine for 1984. Displacement jumped from 1.6 liters to 2.2, though output increased only marginally, from 82 hp to 91. A turbocharged model was available, but it only shaved 0.6 second off of the 2.2’s 10.6-second 0-to-60-mph time.

2013 Mercedes-Benz A-Class – More Photos Revealed

2013 Mercedes Benz A Class More Photos Revealed 2013 Mercedes Benz A Class – More Photos Revealed

Mercedes-Benz released a sweet update with a huge collection of photos for their 2013 A-Class coming soon to dealerships near you. If you think it’s odd that Mercedes-Benz is releasing more photos every few months, don’t think so, it isn’t. Why?

As our sources tell us, they have received more than 40,000 orders in Europe alone for the small and nimble entry model from their range. That’s a pretty spectacular result for a car who’s release date is more than a month away this September.

For us in Europe the A-Class will be available with three inline-four turbo diesel engines ranging in output from 107hp (109PS) to 134hp (136PS), followed closely by three four-cylinder petrol engined cars producing from 121hp (122PS) to 208hp (211PS).

Mercedes-Benz also confirmed their intention of releasing an AMG version of the A-Class sporting well over 300 horsepower, all-wheel drive, all delivered from a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine. This one will be called A45 AMG and it’s planned to arrive in the first quarter of next year. Media gallery here we come!

Will the Sprint Cup ever come to Montreal?

We’re hours away from the NASCAR Nationwide NAPA 200 in Montreal, and rumours of the Sprint Cup coming to Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve are flying high again.

For those who don’t know, Nationwide is the Sprint Cup’s farm system, a lower-tier series for the stars of tomorrow. You won’t see all the big guns like Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Yet, Montreal has recently been voted as the ”best Nationwide race,” a distinction that François Dumontier (the event’s promoter) is quite happy to brag about.

You see, the other races in the Nationwide series are often held on Saturday afternoons in front of (partially) empty bleachers, whereas more than 60,000 fans attend the Montreal show.

And that’s certainly what it is: a show. These 3,500-lb machines pack quite a punch with their thundering V8 engines that crank out 650+ horsepower. Of course, they’re more like elephants in a jewelry store than cheetahs in the savanna, but the fact that many local drivers are competing makes the race compelling from start to finish.

Red Bull F1 Car Plays U.S. National Anthem

red bull singer Red Bull F1 Car Plays U.S. National Anthem

Red Bull F1 team has a couple of show cars used for publicity purposes. They are multi-talented, apparently, as they can be used to shoot paint balls at Jeremy Clarkson’s plums, they can be driven in the dirt, or as you see here, play a musical tribute to the land of the free. On its second U.S. trip, the team went to New York’s Liberty Park where engineers with laptops made the F1 monster play the Star-Spangled Banner with its engine noise. It sounds strangely cool!

Check it out after the jump.
