Artist Sketch: BMW M4
Roger Lighterness, our usual rendering artist here at BMWBLOG, is presenting his latest design sketch that illustrates the new BMW M4 Coupe.
Due out in 2014, the M version of the 3 Series Coupe (and future 4 Series) gets a new moniker: M4. The iconic coupe will sport the usual M design cues: wide track, M front bumper with large air intakes, large brakes, signature four exhaust pipes and side gills.
Under the hood, the M3 and M4 variants will be powered by an inline-six turbo unit that is likely to produce around 450 horsepower. It remains unknown if BMW will offer a 3.0 or 3.2 liter displacement.
The engine is expected to be mated to a dual-clutch transmission, but we won’t be surprised if a manual box will be offered for the U.S. customers. Some of the new features in the next M3 and M4 include an electronically controlled differential as found in the M5.
U.S. customers will have a choice between three variants: sedan, coupe and convertible. When it goes on sale in 2014, the M4 is expected to be priced slightly higher than the current generation E92, but to include more standard features.
