For 50 years the most famous spy in the world has saved the world from evil tyrants. His name? Bond … James Bond. The spy with code name 007 has brought two of his company cars to the Classic Days at Schloss Dyck near Düsseldorf, Germany. The Bond cars were joined with the all-new Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish.
The Aston Martin DB5 on display at Schloss Dyck is famous for being the first and most recognized cinematic James Bond car, first appearing in the 1964 movie Goldfinger. The same car was used again in the following film, Thunderball, which was released in 1965. As one of the most iconic Bond cars, the DB5 also made a small appearance in Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale.
The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish made its appearance in the 2002 James Bond film Die Another Day. Interesting features are the machine guns placed on the bonnet, gadgets which surely will impress the villain who plans to take over the world or the driver in front of you. Coincidentally enough, at the parking we stumbled upon a Lotus Esprit reminiscent to the one starring in The Spy Who Loved Me, wherein the Lotus could transform into a submarine.
Also on display was the latest Aston Martin, the AM 310 Vanquish. The successor to the Aston Martin DBS is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine, which produces 573hp and a maximum torque of 620Nm. The sprint from standstill to 100km/h sprint is done in 4.1 seconds and the top speed is 295km/h. Deliveries are expected to begin in Europe in late 2012, but the option list won’t include machine guns placed on the bonnet.
