2013 Toyota RAV4: Another Round of Photos Hit the Web!

The all-new 2013 Toyota RAV4 SUV is a secret no more, at least as far as its exterior and interior looks are concerned, after a second set of photos made their way across the internet.
We’ll remind you that earlier today, we shared a first batch of pictures of Toyota’s next compact crossover, which will rival the likes of the latest Honda CR-V, Ford Escape (Kuga in Europe) and Subaru Forester (just to mention a few of its competitors) on a global level.
The new RAV4 adopts the more modern and to some extent, sharper aesthetics from Toyota’s latest models, such as the U.S. Camry and especially the European / JDM Auris series, with the interior design also following suite.
There’s nothing official yet from Toyota on the 2013 RAV4′s specifications, and unless the Japanese carmaker decides to release the information early, we will have to wait until its world premiere at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show on Wednesday, November 28, to find out more.

Mazda Australia becomes first full-line importer to top 10,000 sales
Segment-topping performances from three models and a hugely successful single-day promotion have helped Mazda become the first full-line importer in Australian automotive industry to sell more than 10,000 vehicles in a month.
Official VFACTS data released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries confirmed Mazda Australia sold 10,093 vehicles across the country in September, eclipsing its previous monthly record of 9345 set in April by 748 units.
The record month also saw Mazda rise to second on the overall sales charts for just the second time in its history (the first also coming in April), slotting in between market leader Toyota (17,300) and Holden (8955).

Mazda Australia managing director Doug Dickson said the brand’s most successful ‘M-Day’ sale ever helped push the Mazda3 small car to its highest ever sales result (4276 units), the CX-5 compact SUV (1809) to its second best month on record, and the Mazda2 (1801) to the top of the city car segment.
“We are, of course, extremely pleased to have sold over 10,000 cars in September,” Dickson said. “It was a fantastic result driven by another very successful M-Day … which was embraced by our customers all over Australia.
Toyota Camry, Aurion available with zero per cent finance
Toyota Australia has announced a zero per cent finance offer on its locally made Camry and Aurion models as it steps up its push to encourage people to ‘buy Australian’.
The special comparison interest rate applies to the Toyota Camry, Toyota Camry Hybrid and Toyota Aurion sedans, which are manufactured at Toyota Australia’s assembly plant at Altona in Melbourne.
The offer applies to customers of current model vehicles (excluding demonstrators) with finance applications received and approved and vehicles registered and delivered before December 31, 2012. A maximum finance period of 48 months applies.

Toyota Australia executive director sales and marketing Matthew Callachor said the finance offer was a demonstration of the company’s confidence in its locally manufactured vehicles, which are forced to compete with imported cars that benefit from the strong Australian dollar.
“Zero per cent is a way to encourage Australians to rediscover the value and other attributes of cars we build here,” Callachor said.
2013 Mazda6: official pictures and details
The 2013 Mazda6 has been revealed in its entire, striking sedan form at the 2012 Moscow motor show.
Mazda’s new range of pictures, which follow previous teaser shots, show the Japanese car maker will have a dynamic-looking vehicle to take on medium-car rivals such as the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord Euro and Ford Mondeo from early 2013.
The third iteration of the Mazda6 since it replaced the 626 in 2002 is the company’s second model to be built from the ground up using its Skyactiv technologies aimed at fuel use reduction.

It follows the CX-5 SUV with which it shares its platform, though the Mazda6 is the brand’s first vehicle to feature a new brake energy recuperation system it calls i-Eloop.
The set-up incorporates a capacitor that stores electrical energy when the driver steps off the accelerator and distributes it to power the car’s electronics.

Usain Bolt is the world’s fastest Nissan GT-R owner

2013 Toyota RAV4 Compact Crossover: We Take a Look Into the Crystal Ball

Yes it’s almost that time; like when your faithful old phone or television becomes out of date – your attention is then drawn to finding something newer, trendier, self-fulfilling enough to make the neighbors envious.
Insert Toyota and its popular crossover here; the current RAV4 is fast growing a few grey hairs and has lost some of its youthfulness of yesteryear. Not wanting its direct competitors to seize on this, the boffins at Toyota have been working hard on its next generation of their popular compact SUV.
This hard work has become more apparent in recent months with numerous camouflaged spy photos hitting the cyberspace. Based on those photos, I have created an illustration that previews the new design direction for the 2013 Toyota RAV4.
Gone is the upright stance of old; replaced by a steeply raked cabin that looks to have been shaped by a wind tunnel stuck on hurricane setting. This sleekness has also transferred onto the sheet metal; there are now more contemporary creases and stylized lines – the outgoing model in comparison looks like it had too many deep-fried pies.
What you can’t see here is the banishment of the tailgate mounted full-size spare; with it now being out of sight the tail-lights now span horizontally like the Camry’s.

Report: Honda Americas to develop next-gen Civic from start to finish

MotorTrend reports on a prediction made by the AAA, which believes that nearly eight million cars will be equipped with start-stop systems by 2017 in North America. This apparently comes from the system being so popular.
Popular? The last time I remember, most of us in the automotive world shunned start-stop systems for their simple annoyance. That’s also the case here at egmCarTech, as none of us are very fond of it. Maybe popular as in, a lot of companies are doing it.
And looking around, a lot of cars are coming with the system to help increase fuel economy by eliminating the idle time of an engine. From something as basic as a Kia Rio, to the midsized Chevrolet Malibu Eco family sedan, and of course, the luxury cars as well.
