Chevrolet SS: Holden Commodore US export program confirmed
The return of the Holden Commodore to the North American showroom industry has been officially confirmed, with the Australian-constructed massive auto to transform into a Chevrolet SS in late 2013.
Holden’s announcement follows weeks of speculation and CarAdvice’s unique report last week that the confirmation of the export program was imminent.
Holden’s future models: small car certain, large car questionable
Holden will be build a subsequent-generation tiny car in Australia as portion of its newly announced co-investment with federal and state governments, but the future of the Commodore as a significant, rear-wheel drive car appears ominous.
The local car maker revealed today that it would construct two all-new automobiles in the 2nd half of the decade as element of a $ 1 billion-plus, 10-year commitment to nearby manufacturing that would see the organization obtain a $ 275 million contribution from Australian taxpayers.
Rumours abound of Holden heading to NASCAR
Speculation is rife in the US that Chevrolet’s secret new NASCAR could be primarily based on a rebadged edition of the Australian-produced Holden Commodore or Holden Caprice.
Chevrolet ignited the unlikely rumours overnight when it announced its 2013 challenger would be “based on a new nameplate to the brand’s line-up”, confirming that the auto will not be based on Chevrolet’s present NASCAR, the Impala, or present models like the Malibu or Cruze.
