H20i 2011 Coverage: You Have to Go Next Year! (Part 4)
Even with rain forecasted for the last weekend of September, the excitement of many VW and Audi owners was not dampened. The light rain and grey skies all weekend didn’t hold many back from cruising Coastal Highway and spending time in the Convention Center parking lot talking and hanging out. H2O International is one of those events that is unlike any other around; it is not focused around the main show on Sunday but events and meets going on throughout the whole weekend up and down Coastal Highway. What started as an event for VW’s and Audi’s has quickly seen the rise of other cars including everything from clean, stanced BMW’s to a bagged Subaru and even a few fitted Hondas. The variety of cars seems to be getting larger each year and this year definitely saw the largest attendance in non-VAG cars to date. The show on Sunday, even at a new location which was smaller than the old location at Ocean Downs, saw no decline in the quality of cars from years past. While strolling through the club parking and vendor area, there was always something see. Even with the less than ideal weather, I still look forward to this show every year and cannot wait to see the cars people have been waiting to reveal in Ocean City. If you did not attend H2O International this year, you definitely missed out. All I have to say is… YOU HAVE TO GO NEXT YEAR!

Summer Meat Meet Presented by: Hard Parked & State Of Stance
This past Saturday Hard Parked and StateOfStance hosted the Summer Meat Meet At Markham Park in Weston, FL. It had been a while since I’d gone to anything stance related here in Miami, so it was refreshing to see how big the scene has gotten down here. You’ll probably recognize a bunch of familiar cars, some with new wheels and some even lower than they were the last time you saw them. The best part about the meat/meet for me was the eclectic showing of cars that turned out. Everything from slammed Miatas to muscle cars, aired out VWs to Nissan GTRs, Hondas to Mustangs, you get the idea. I’m not sure anyone did an official count, but there was a HUGE turnout. The actual show area was filled within the first hour or so and cars were lined up around every surrounding road. If this is the kind of showing we got all the way down in Miami, I can’t wait to see what shows up at Simply Clean 3 in November up in Sanford. Hope you guys enjoy the photos!

For the previous three years or so, the import neighborhood has been rocked by the stance scene. What largely started with forum junkies imitating existing Euro and Japanese styles has turn into a globally phenomenon, with stanced automobiles obtaining their way into the massive name magazines, supporting blogs with much more Facebook followers than large name universities, and influencing the way that some OEMs style their personal concept autos. This recognition, nonetheless, has not risen devoid of dissenters. Forums are filled with type versus function arguments spanning dozens of pages, low-cost videos are created with the intent to invalidate the complete fitment scene, and the adherents of stance are created to search like challenging-parking wannabes at the whim of each and every trend and passing fad.
But what if stance was much more than that? Practically every facet of our culture has been touched by the ideas of post-modernism. Music, philosophy, art, and architecture have been rocked by the notion that modern conventions CAN and Really should be broken. We can throw hip hop beats behind classical music and produce one thing, however seemingly heretical it may be, that sounds great.
