Both the driver and passenger had been reportedly fine after the sudden bursts inflated close to their heads, even so, the lady riding in the passenger seat was said to have received minor burns from the explosive nature of the airbag going off.

2010 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited Long-Term Wrap: A Lasting Legacy is Doubtful

[unable to retrieve complete-text content]Our Legacy danced when we desired it to, but shimmied even when we didn’t. Right after our 2010 Subaru Legacy three.6R spent 40,000 miles in our care, Subaru chose not to leave the auto with us. This is, of course, often the case: Suppliers whisk their autos away to poke, prod, and otherwise debrief them on [...]

It is no secret that efficiency ranks quite substantial on the C/D list of  valued vehicle attributes. Hustle will cover for fairly a couple of minor sins in our evaluations, and our 40,000-mile experience with this 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 tends to make an exceptional case in point. Though it displayed numerous character traits few would discover acceptable in an ordinary compact car, its boy-racer soul won over even the most vocal of its critics. Most of  ’em, anyway.

This is the second generation of Mazda’s scrappy hot hatch, an evolutionary overhaul that entailed a modest menu of detail updates, which includes revised cosmetics and mechanical tweaks aimed at sharpening handling responses and lowering torque steer.

Judging by our test car’s logbook, Mazda’s Speed three team missed the torque-steer target. And the styling updates left us wondering what the style guys have been thinking. Or smoking.

Our Celestial Blue Mica Speed three arrived on December 1, 2009, the threshold of a Michigan season that can make torque steer specifically thrilling. We specified a Speed three Sport (the slightly more high-priced Speed 3 GT trim level disappeared with the onset of the 2010 model year). The base cost was $ 23,945, $ 455 far more than the ’09 gen-1 Sport.

2010 – 2011 Porsche 911 Recalled For Center Lock Wheel Failure

 2010 porsche 911 whl ft 324101 1600 thumb 717x477 90807 2010 2011 Porsche 911 Recalled For Center Lock Wheel Failure

Porsche, a company run stem to stern with engineering PhDs, is not known for recalls. That’s in part due to the aforementioned engineers, and in part due to their habit of both endurance and normal racing activities. So it’s surprising when a racing-inspired part fails on a Porsche, but that’s exactly what happened. A racing 911 GT3 broke a center locking wheel hub in August 2010 and two other vehicles on the track suffered broken hubs; two of the three issues resulted in crashes. There were no injuries or fatalities reported.

The issue is attributed to advanced wear that is worsened by on-track activities. There have been no reports of the wheels failing on public roads, but that’s not stopping Porsche (and the NHTSA) from recalling 1,702 911s that include the 911 GT2 RS, Porsche 911 GT3, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Porsche 911 Turbo and Porsche 911 Turbo S. To see if your Porsche qualifies, Porsche recommends, “looking at the exterior of the vehicle and by reviewing the list of options installed on the vehicle.”

Porsche has an improved design for the hubs as well as additional instructions for the correct use of the hubs. Owners can contact Porsche at 1-800-767-7234 for more information.

The Slovenian exhaust specialist gaves us the option to drive Godzilla at the Autódromo Internacional Algarve near Portimao, Portugal. The result is shown below.

The technican team and R&D department managed to squeeze out an additional 17hp at 6,260rpm and 56Nm at 2,600rpm. With the Evolution exhaust system, the GT-R has an improved elasticity and responsiveness of its engine in the entire rpm range. The Evolution is especially effective between 2,000 and 3,500rpm. The stock exhaust system is 17 kilograms heavier, while Akrapovic’s fully titanium made system weighs only 14,3 kilograms.

Over 40,000 miles, we never grew to love the taste of Evo Lite.

Date: May 2011
Months in Fleet: 16 months
Current Mileage: 40,026 miles
Average Fuel Economy: 20 mpg
Average Range: 290 miles
Service: $ 1477
Normal Wear: $ 0
Repair: $ 773

When the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and Subaru Impreza WRX first appeared in the U.S. early in the millennium, it wasn’t exactly a fair fight. The 227-hp Subaru started at less than $ 25,000, the 271-hp Evo nearly $ 30,000. Subaru countered the pricier, more powerful Evo with its STI, but it took Mitsubishi until 2009 to challenge the playful, middleweight WRX with the Lancer Ralliart sedan—or Evo Lite, as we call it. Subaru offers WRX buyers both four- and five-door configurations, though, and Mitsu needed one more year to correct this imbalance by introducing the five-door Sportback Ralliart. With that army finally fully assembled, we ordered a Sportback for a 40,000-mile romp.
