(continued from above)

When the first Beetle rolled off the production line, it was simply called the Volkswagen – “the people’s car” – but its distinctive shape inspired nicknames across the globe: Beetle, Käfer, Vocho, Coccinelle, Fusca, or Maggiolino! In total, 21.5 million cars were sold, making it the most popular car manufactured off a single platform of all time.

More than 60 years later, in 1998, the “New Beetle” rekindled the spirit and imagination of the original for a new generation of Volkswagen owners. This second-generation version sparked another round of “Beetle Mania”.

Now, the third-generation of the internationally beloved Beetle is ready for prime time, going on sale in the United States this fall. There will be two models at launch: the Beetle and the sporty Turbo. In 2012, a TDI Clean Diesel will go on sale, which is likely to be the most fuel-efficient Beetle ever made.

Exterior Design

Placing the original Beetle and the 21st Century Beetle next to one another, it’s clear that the lines of the rear sections are nearly identical, but the overall look is bolder and more dynamic. The Beetle also breaks free of the design geometry defined by three semi-circles – front fender, rear fender, and domed roof above it. The roof profile actually runs distinctly lower and can be considered a development of the Ragster concept car shown in Detroit in 2005. As a result, the new Beetle is bolder, more dynamic, and more masculine.

“The Beetle is now characterized by a clean, self-confident and dominant sportiness. The car not only has a lower profile; it is also substantially wider, the front hood is longer, the front windshield is shifted further back and has a much steeper incline. All of this creates a new dynamism,” explains Klaus Bischoff.

The 2012 Beetle is 71.2 inches wide (3.3 inches wider), 58.5 inches tall (0.5 inches lower) and 168.4 inches long (6.0 inches longer). The new focal point is the C-pillar. The development team also increased the car’s track widths and wheelbase. The changed proportions give the Beetle a powerful and dynamic appearance.

A new feature is the rear spoiler that is standard on the 2.0 Turbo and is integrated into the design. The top surface of the rear spoiler is black, while the underside is painted in body color.

With its distinctive, stylish appearance and its 4×4 SUV features, the 4008 is a modern response to the needs of all-terrain vehicle customers, in a very prominent market segment. (continued below)

(continued from above)

The world market of all-terrain SUVs has been growing strongly since 2005. In Russia, all-terrain vehicles have long been predominant and currently account for 20% of the market, the majority being vehicles in the compact SUV segment. However, in China and Western Europe the market share of the SUVs has reached 10%, and covers a variety of expectations. In Europe, this market share of the SUVs in segments C and D is increasing to the detriment of the SUVs of the E segment.

In China, it is the attraction of the vehicle’s status that is sought after. In Europe, it fulfils the desire for distinctive multipurpose vehicles, compact and with an environmental impact comparable to that of a conventional saloon. Therefore, the 4008 is an ideal response to the changes in these markets, it is a competitive vehicle serving the marque’s ambition in the international market.

Presented as a world premiere at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, 4008 will go on sale initially in international markets from 2012 second quarter.

Distinctive Style

Born of the PSA – Mitsubishi partnership, the 4008 naturally has a strong Peugeot identity. The new stylistic codes of the marque are judiciously adapted, such as the floating grille and the feline design of the lamp units with visual signature: at the front, a line of LED daylight running lamps that complement the headlamps and three red claws sculpted rear lamps.

The off-road character has been emphasized by adopting a vertical design of grille, inclusion of body sill protectors and prominent wheel arch protection trims, to accommodate large wheels enhanced by the sophisticated design of the wheel rims.

The almost-horizontal bonnet grooves and the style line – which extends to the rear wing where it descends again crossing the lamp – are a distinctive feature and appear to hollow out along the body side, accentuating the strong and dynamic aspect of the 4008.

The work carried out by the design style team, down to the smallest detail, gives the 4008 a high class elegance in line with its positioning.

The exterior is, among other things, set off with chromed components and the interior ambiance is enhanced by the choice of materials, like the soft texture fascia, to the instrument panel visor and the lacquered black decoration of the centre console.

A glass panoramic roof provides extensive light for the occupants in the passenger compartment and is supplemented with side LEDs for night/dark light illumination for reading.

With its particular style, strong and distinctive, the 4008 is firmly rooted in the world of the compact SUV. Its features and its equipment – like the Open & Go system, 18″ alloy wheels, a touch screen navigation system, and reversing camera – are a result of the Brand’s modernity and upmarket vision of all-terrain vehicles.

(continued from above)

The 2011 Honda CR-V Concept made its public debut at the Orange County International Auto Show in Anaheim, Calif., yesterday, and introduced the styling direction for the all-new, fourth-generation CR-V. The 2012 CR-V is set to go on sale in the United States by the end of the year and will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

“The 2011 CR-V Concept strongly hints at the more dynamic and refined look of the upcoming model,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. “As the best-selling SUV in each of the past four years, the 2012 CR-V promises to build on its highly successful formula with even more style, innovative features and higher fuel economy.”

The CR-V Concept embraces a distinctive and bold styling direction for the top-selling SUV in the United States. Compared to the current-generation CR-V, the concept model takes on a more aggressive stance with deeper sculpting of the body lines and a bolder front fascia. The front bumper’s smooth-flowing lines are highlighted by a horizontal three-bar grille and deeply set multi-reflector headlights. The lower front bumper wraps smartly upward to convey SUV capability with a generous approach angle, while the lower front bumper design now integrates more smoothly with the fascia for improved aerodynamics.

The CR-V’s signature vertical rear taillights remain for 2012 with a more three-dimensional style that wraps further into the design of the vehicle. The CR-V Concept’s large 5-spoke machined alloy wheels and bold fender flares emphasize the vehicle’s dynamic presence and capability.

The all-new 2012 CR-V will improve upon the current model in a variety of ways, and will feature a more fuel-efficient engine and reduced body weight. In addition to all-new exterior styling, the 2012 CR-V will have an all-new interior with a more accommodating and spacious design.

Currently in the fifth year of its model cycle, the CR-V continues to sell at a record pace. The 2011 CR-V was among the highest-ranked vehicles in its segment for initial quality in J.D. Power & Associates’ 2011 Initial Quality Study (IQS), where it finished second to the Honda Element in the compact SUV segment. The CR-V is sold globally in more than 160 countries throughout North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. In the U.S., CR-V is manufactured in Ohio at the East Liberty Auto Plant of Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc., using domestic and globally sourced parts.
As part of these efforts, Jeep also announced that it will produce the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty: MW3 Special Edition. Available in Jeep showrooms this November, the new limited-edition Jeep Wrangler will be available in both two-door and four-door (Jeep Wrangler Unlimited) models.

“The Jeep brand’s partnership with Activision allows us to combine our new, more powerful, more exciting and more fuel-efficient Jeep Wrangler with the latest version of one of the most popular gaming experiences in the world,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “This opportunity enables us to demonstrate Jeep Wrangler’s unique combination of fun, capability and performance to a broad and growing group of consumers.”

The presence of a Jeep Wrangler in the game is a natural fit, including an in-game integration into the epic single-player storyline of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3,” a Spec-Ops level and the title’s much anticipated multiplayer experience.

“We are very excited to extend our partnership with Jeep, which not only marries two of the world’s most iconic brands – Jeep Wrangler and Call of Duty – but also creates a number of unique consumer touch points,” said Tim Ellis, Chief Marketing Officer for Activision. “The Jeep Wrangler perfectly embodies the authenticity and dynamic energy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and our teams have worked hard to create an integrated partnership that enhances both brands.”

Based on 2012 Wrangler Rubicon

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited Call of Duty: MW3 Special Edition is based on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon model and features Rubicon wheels finished in semi-gloss black. Available in Black or Bright Silver, the exterior features “Call of Duty: MW3 Special Edition” graphics on the front fenders and spare tire cover.

The vehicle also features a unique “power-dome” hood, along with such Mopar accessories as a winch-ready front bumper, rear bumper, rock rails, taillamp guards and a fuel-filler door. Inspired by the most recent version of Activision’s popular “Call of Duty” games, the new limited-edition Wrangler delivers legendary Jeep capability, aggressive off-road tires, live axles with locking differentials in the front and rear, and a two-speed transfer case.

Available dealer-installed Mopar performance parts include a Warn winch, 2-inch lift kit and classic five-spoke wheels.

Interior appointments include model-specific black seats with accent stitching and Call of Duty logos, unique gauge cluster graphics, dashboard serialized plaque, dashboard grab handle with logo, accent stitching on arm rest, console lid, and steering wheel, Mopar Slush Mats with logo, and rear cargo mat with logo (Unlimited only).

(continued from above)

The car bodies play a large part in the dynamics of the Audi S6 and S6 Avant. They are unusually lightweight because they are roughly 20 percent aluminum. The Audi S6 has a curb weight of just 4,178 lb (1,895 kilograms), the S6 Avant 4,299 lb (1,950 kilograms).

At 182.4 inch (4,634-millimeter), the S6 is 0.6 inches (16 millimeters) longer than the A6; with the 194.1 inches (4,931 millimeters) S6 Avant, the difference is 0.3 inches (8 millimeters). Their single-frame grille sports aluminum applications and chromed horizontal double bars. Another chrome strip adorns the front bumper. The exterior mirrors feature aluminum-look housings, and the side sills are distinctively shaped.

The S6 sedan has a spoiler on the trunk; the Avant has a roof spoiler. With both models, the diffuser on the rear bumper is platinum gray with an aluminum-look offset edge. The four chrome-tipped tailpipes are elliptical. The S models are available in a choice of eight colors, including the exclusive shades Estoril Blue, crystal effect and Prism Silver, crystal effect. The body is decorated with S6 and V8T badges.

Interior Design

The interior of the S6 and S6 Avant is also characterized by sporty elegance. There are S6 badges on the key, the leather sport steering wheel with colored stitching and aluminum shift paddles as well as the instruments. The illuminated door sill trims and both displays (MMI and driver information system) greet the driver with the S6 logo. A red ring adorns the start-stop button, an aluminum clasp the selector lever. The footrest, the pedals and the soft keys of the MMI operating system shine in an aluminum-look finish.

Decorative inlays are available in a choice of four materials. Matt brushed aluminum is standard, with carbon, fine grain ash natural brown or layered Beaufort oak as options. Customers can choose from three colors – black, lunar silver and goa beige (only for the seat upholstery) – for the headlining, instrument panel, carpet and seats. The standard seat upholstery is a mix of Pearl Nappa leather and Alcantara, with Milano and Valcona available as options.

Height-adjustable sport seats with power lumbar supports and embossed S logos are standard. Audi offers two other versions as options: the power-adjustable comfort seats with memory function and the power-adjustable S sport seats with integrated head restraints. These also are embossed with the S logo.

With a new 4-cylinder petrol engine featuring direct injection and turbocharging, a new diesel engine, a new dual clutch transmission, a new manual transmission and new help systems, the front-wheel-drive auto also rings in a new technological era for compact autos from Mercedes-Benz.

“No model alter in the background of Mercedes-Benz has ever witnessed so a lot of new developments introduced in one fell swoop,” stresses Dr. Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management accountable for Group Research and Head of Improvement, Mercedes-Benz Cars.

“Long term B-Class consumers will benefit from this quantum leap in terms of exemplary low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions combined with driving pleasure, plenty of area and the highest regular of security that has ever been accessible in this class.”

The planet premiere of the new B-Class will take spot at the Frankfurt International Motor Present (September 13 to 25). It will be making its way to European dealers in November 2011.

Exterior Design: Perfect Area in a Most Desirable Guise

The new B-Class is a common Mercedes sports tourer, providing a lot of space combined with impressive dynamic functionality as a hatchback saloon. The characteristic lines of the exterior layout indicate the two of these attributes: front and rear sport a width-emphasizing style, with a broad, prominent grille and headlamps extending along the sides at the front whilst the rear finish features a broad rear window, two-piece tail lights with horizontally offset meander and a large tailgate with low loading sill.

The new sportiness and the excellent aerodynamics are specifically evident in the side line: the bonnet flows seamlessly into the A-pillar and the roof line descends sleekly to the striking roof spoiler. The roof attributes a swage line which lends the vehicle a longer appearance. The pronounced wheel arches offset by dynamic feature lines below the beltline are a sporty interpretation of the latest layout line from Mercedes-Benz. The bottom edge of the physique features dynamic side skirts which add a light touch to the vehicle’s look. Refined facts such as the exquisitely created headlamps with the new spotlight element confirm the brand’s unmistakable premium credentials which shine by means of in the compact segment, also.
