MINI Cargo Van Set For Geneva Debut

Reports from Germany suggest MINI’s all-new model for this year Geneva Motor Show is a commercial vehicle.
According to German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, this new MINI van will be called MINI Cargo, and it’s basically a Clubman with removable back seats and no back windows. The car will provide a rather small, but flat loading bay, suitable for businesses such as pizza delivery.
MINI and its parent company BMW must be seeing some potential market for such a vehicle. As far as we are aware, those who buy commercial vehicles usually want something big, practical and rather cheap. This Cargo doesn’t seem to be any of those things. But if you want a trendy car to move your small objects around in style, then it’s definitely the car for you.
MINI has not yet confirmed this report.

BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe Revealed as Mercedes CLS Rival

The new 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe joins the latest luxury four-door coupe niche alongside the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLS, Audi A7, and Porsche Panamera.
At 4.4 inches longer than the 6 series two-door coupe, the first four-door Gran Coupe available in the United States will be in 640i trim, utilizing BMW’s N55 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six and will produce 315 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. A 650i Gran Coupe will be available next, providing a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, making 445-hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The 650i Gran Coupe will be available in rear wheel drive and xDrive all wheel drive as well. Both the 640i and 650i will receive an 8-speed automatic transmission.
From the inside, the sporty, luxurious, and tech loaded interior of the 6 series Gran Coupe is certainly on par with its trendy competitors. While the photo gallery clearly displays a rear center console, a common design for four-passenger four-door coupes, the seat-belt placement suggests that the rear seating can provide room for three in a pinch, where the middle passenger must straddle the console.
As BMW will likely organize the debut of its new 3 Series at the upcoming 2012 Detroit Auto Show, the debut of the 2013 6 Series Gran Coupe will likely be slated for the 2012 Geneva Motor Show instead.

Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador Roadster On Its Way
Car News, Geneva Auto Salon 2012, Lamborghini — By MR on December 10, 2011 at 11:39 pm — No Comments

The Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador Roadster is ready for its debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 in March. The roofless sports car is the logical follow-up of the current LP700-4 coupe, which was released at this year’s Geneve Auto Salon.
Teamspeed reports that an insider saw some factory pics of the convertible Aventador, but he didn’t tell anything about the color of the car pictured, only that it is ready for production. His opinion was that car is simply stunning, even better then renderings we saw before.
The insider tried to find out about the actual roof construction, but the only answer he received was that the retractable roof solution is much better than one used on Murcielago Roadster.
Stay tuned for more in the upcomning months.
2013 Audi A3 winter spy shots
Audi has been spotted testing a prototype version of the upcoming 2013 Audi A3 hatch in freezing winter conditions in northern Sweden. The new model will be built on Volkswagen’s new MQB platform, also underpinning the next Volkswagen Golf.
The new A3 will showcase updated styling across all exterior panels. Despite the disorienting colour scheme, you can make out most of the contours and some of the front end details.
The 2013 Audi A3 will get fresh headlights, matching the company’s latest design theme with a line of LEDs along the top edge and a slightly scalloped bottom edge. The new A3 will also feature a larger mouth and grille fascia over the current model.
As for the powertrains, the 2013 Audi A3 range will consist of an all-turbocharged engine line-up including diesel to petrol variants and the new 1.4-litre TFSI four-cylinder unit with cylinder deactivation technology. More powerful S3 and RS 3 models also expected to join the line-up down the track.
The new model will reportedly be slightly longer in the wheelbase, offering increased cabin space, and will come in three-door hatch, five-door Sportback, convertible, and four-door sedan body styles.
Some reports suggest the 2013 Audi A3 will be unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March, although we believe it will debut in production form at the 2012 Paris Motor Show later in the year. It should go on sale in Australia in 2013.
