The little known Argentine firm Donto Motor Company, having carefully studied the market of inexpensive sports car that can be used both on racetracks and roads, is going in the coming months to present a model P1.

The development of the original sports car, the Argentine company started 18 months ago. Currently Donto Motor Company is finalizing the first full test prototype car P1. The machine, which is a double sports car with a retractable roof, Argentine car makers are planning to certify to public roads. The main advantages of new items, which will become major rivals such supercars as the KTM X-Bow and Ariel Atom, automaker calls the unusual design of the exterior, as well as low weight machines – less than 700 kg.

Just days ago, Ford confirmed that the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine found in the current Focus ST and RS would be discontinued due to its inability to meet Euro 5 emissions standards. This left us eagerly awaiting the announcement of a replacement model for Ford’s hot hatch. Now, the word is out that Ford will debut the Focus ST’s successor, at least in concept form, at the Paris Motor Show this October.

Ford has confirmed the unveiling of an “exciting performance model” that will showcase the styling of the upcoming 2012 front-wheel-drive Focus ST. The vehicle is expected to be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo’d four-cylinder mill producing about 250 horsepower and employing Ford’s Ecoboost technology. Ford has stated that the concept vehicle represents a future “global performance model” and promises that it will be “exciting to drive and great to look at.” Our cameras will be at the ready to catch this concept in all of its glory late next month.

We got a glimpse of it not long ago in renderings, now Heico Sportiv has taken its retuned 2011 Volvo S60 to the track and brought us some souvenirs of the day. Changes are restrained yet aggressive outside, with added front lip components and a rear diffuser that wraps around four tailpipes, in addition to a set of attractive gunmetal Volution wheels.

Under the hood is where the real oomph resides, with power outputs hitting the 297 horsepower and 258 pound-feet in the 2.0T, and 330 hp and 339 lb-ft. in the T6. The achingly slow striptease of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe continues with a 47-second-long spot of the camo-clad coupe bearing just enough sheetmetal to keep us interested.

The multi-spoke wheels, drilled discs and quad-exhausts are the only elements not left to the imagination, but the extra vinyl aft of the front wheels is sure to hiding a set of M-style fender vents while a ducktail spoiler is fitted out back.

As for mechanicals, the smart money is still on an upgraded twin-turbocharged inline-six (N54), channeling over 335 horsepower through a manual gearbox and down to the rear wheels via a torque-vectoring M differential.

Jaguar’s got a good thing going with its use of Ford engines, and even an engine shortage isn’t enough to deter Land Rover from getting in on the game. A report in Autocar suggests that the Land Rover Evoque could make use of the 2.0-liter, four-cyliinder Ecoboost engine that Ford just installed as the premium engine into the 2011 Explorer.

On the ‘sceptered isle, the same Ecoboost serves in the Mondeo, but with 203 horsepower instead of the 237 that the Explorer variant outputs. Since Land Rover won’t say anything about the report, probably trying to maintain the surprise until the Evoque is revealed at the Paris Motor Show, we don’t know which tune the Evoque might get. But that engine and the possibility of using Ford’s six-speed, dual-clutch Powershift transmission could go all the way to backing up Land Rover’s assertion that the Evoque will be the most fuel-efficient vehicle it has ever produced.

Fit for a hybrid?

Honda has released a few sketches of the upcoming Honda Fit hybrid, set to go on sale in Europe early next year.

While the new Honda hybrid will offer significantly better fuel economy than a conventional Fit, is it worth almost 00 more?

As with most hybrid offerings, there are sure to be some high tech features not found on a base Fit. Thus, the hybrid version of the Fit isn’t really an extra 00. Nonetheless, consumers will still make that comparison.

Anyway, the new Fit hybrid will be fitted “with a 1.3-liter I-4, a continuously variable transmission, and an electric motor sandwiched between the two,” according to MotorTrend, and produce 98 horsepower. A conventional Fit, on the other hand achieves 118 hp’s; however, the Fit hybrid offers an extra 17 feet-pound of torque.

Thus, aside from dollars, the real measurement is fuel economy. While final numbers have not been provided, MotorTrend is speculating that the new Fit hybrid will outperform the Insight hybrid’s 40/43 mpg (city/highway) fuel economy numbers versus the standard Fit’s 28/35 mpg.

Additionally, the Fit hybrid offers a more distinct grille, bumpers, tail and head lamps.
