A BBC spokesperson said that the broadcaster would respond to the India High Commission “in due course”.

DC Design Avanti Revealed in India

Tata to replace starters on about 50,000 Nanos

Tata Motors Ltd., has announced a recall in India to change the starter motors of all Nano models sold among July 2009 and October 2011.

“We are replacing the starter motors of the previous Nano variant with those of the our new 2012 edition,” spokesperson Debasis Ray stated. “There are no safety worries. We have created a far better starter motor which is installed on the new Nano.”

The new 2012 Tata Nano was introduced in the Indian market place in Nov. Whilst, Ray didn’t offer a particular quantity of how numerous Nano’s will see the replacement, he did say that the procedure has been going on for the previous handful of months and that Tata has already replaced starter motors on about 50,000 units of the Nano to date.

Just on a side note. In November 2010, some questions have been raised about the Nano’s security following a couple of them caught on fire.

Report: Jaguar and Land Rover will not be attending 2012 Detroit Auto Show

Opting to focus its efforts on India’s New Delhi Auto Expo, Jaguar and Land Rover have made the decision to skip out on this year’s Detroit Auto Show.

“Jaguar Land Rover recognizes the Detroit Show is a world class exhibition, but for 2012 we will not exhibit there,” says Stuart Schorr, JLR’s Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs. “This decision was driven by the fact that since our newest concept vehicles were featured at the Frankfurt show and will be featured at the upcoming Los Angeles Show, we decided to show them next in the Delhi Show in January as part of our effort to build our brands in this growing market. Therefore, without anything new to show in Detroit this year, we felt it most efficient to not participate in the show.”

Since India’s Tata Motors has acquired Jaguar Land Rover, it seems practical that the brand focus its efforts on the expanding Indian market. Currently, there is not word on the company’s plans for the 2013 show.

India F1 Track Showcases Rich Future, Poor Present

This week’s Indian Grand Prix will be a celebration for one of the world’s fastest growing economies. The state-of-the-art, $ 400-million Buddh International Circuit is just the latest high-dollar effort intended to showcase India’s rapidly growing place on the world stage.

Yet as the world’s rich and famous pay upwards of $ 22,000 for a corporate box at the race, this extravagant new India stands in stark contrast to the old India that was bulldozed to make way for the track. It’s an old, but still very real India where upwards of 450 million don’t have access to a toilet.

OK, I won’t get all Sally Struthers here. Having a whole heap of rich people on hand dumping money into your economy is obviously no bad thing. The bigger issue is how the local governments acquired the land for the Circuit.
