2011 Think City available in four-seat version in Europe
Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Europe/EU, Th!nk (Think)

The 2011 Think City electric car will soon be available in a four-seat version – a first for the automaker. The battery-powered commuter car, with its new interior layout featuring two additional seats, hits the market first in Norway by the end of this month and is scheduled to arrive in the UK in early 2011. Pricing for the four-seat version is expected to start at £23,500 (,566 U.S. at the current exchange rate).
The four-seat City is powered by a lithium-ion battery, which provides a 100-mile range and helps propel the pocket-sized electric car to a top speed of 68 miles per hour. The 2+2 model features foldable rear seats, comes with standard air conditioning and is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile warranty. Think marketing chief, Michael Lock, states that by simply adding two rear seats, the City is “unquestionably, the most attractive electric vehicle on the market.” At this time, Think does not plan on launching a four-seat City model in the U.S.

Video: Over 11 minutes of BMW 1 Series M Coupe and E30 M3 hotness
Filed under: Coupe, Performance, Videos, BMW

The beauty of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe isn’t that the bean-counters let their best performance engineers have at the smallest car in the range. The real beauty is that the car goes back to the very roots of the M division, before the M3 went all V8 on us and took a hefty weight penalty in the process.
To illustrate the point, BMW took the new coupe out to the track, and brought along its spiritual predecessor, the original E30 M3. Fortunately for us, they filmed the encounter – all 11 and a half minutes of it. And while half of it is stock promotional footage, there’s a good few minutes of on-track action spliced in for good measure. Check it out in the video after the jump.

Video: 2012 Ford C-Max demonstrates its hands-free liftgate
Filed under: Detroit Auto Show, Minivan/Van, Technology, Videos, Ford

Call us weird, but we’re rather excited for the 2012 Ford C-Max to launch here in the United States. The majority of today’s minivans are anything but, and as more people look to downsize and seek out the most efficient vehicles to fit their lifestyles, small MPVs have a real chance to succeed here in the U.S.
Ford is bringing the heat by fitting its C-Max with an innovative new hands-free power liftgate, which automatically opens when the driver waves their foot under the rear bumper. Yes, you need to have the vehicle’s key fob within range, and we’re honestly surprised that no one thought of this sooner (okay, so maybe BMW announced that it’s coming to the 5 Series, but shouldn’t the Honda Odyssey have this by now?) In any case, you can see how easy opening the 2012 C-Max’s liftgate can be by watching the video after the jump.
